How to change the Sign – Tutorial

Here’s a short step by step tutorial on how to change the sign on the front of the GA-Hanger

1. Open the RWY12 Templates folder and find GA-hangersign.bmp, keep this folder open.

2. Next open your favourite Photo editing tool, I use Photoshop, but you can use Paint Shop Pro or any other good photo editing software.

3. Open the GA-hangersign.bmp in your photo editing software, you will see two red lines top and bottom of the FS9world sign, anything above or below these lines will not show in FS9, so stay between them.

4. Edit the sign to say what ever you like.

5. Save the file.

6. Next go back into the RWY12 templates folder and open Image Tool.

7. Click File, Open and browse to the templates folder and open GA-hangersign.bmp.

8. Click Image, Create Mipmaps. This creates Mipmaps.

9. Click Image, Format, DTX1. This change’s the texture into a texture FS9 can read.

10. Next we need to Save As, so click File, Save As (don’t click save or you will over write the normal GA-hangersign.bmp) then browse to FS9\Addon Scenery\Texture, Click Save and over write the original file.

11. Start flight sim, go to where you have placed the GA-Hanger and see if the sign has changed.

Known Issues

At present if you change the sign it will change all the signs on all GA-hangers placed, this is ok if it’s for yourself, but if you release your scenery it will also change other people’s signs.

I will add extra models in future updates, so this won’t occur.
